  • Hello & welcome to daphne’s blog

I found that I had too many beautiful images to share with people and my website didn't have enough space, so I've entered the world of blogging! I'm a photographer in the metro-Detroit area specializing in weddings, newborns, families, children, and event photography.

I love what I do and being able to capture timeless moments of emotion and love that will bring joy to people for years and years. I'm so very lucky to have the job I do. I received my BFA in photography from the University of Michigan in 2000 and I've been shooting ever since. Simply put - I love love. I can't make up my mind as to which type of session I prefer so I like to do them all. Weddings are so amazing to shoot because of all the love and the powerful joyful emotions overflowing from the day - it's a dream to photograph. I'm also the mother of a 7 year old, Adler, who loves to ham it up in front of the camera and my little guy, Leopold, who is 1 and 1/2 and has way too many photos taken already, I can't keep up with all the ones I take. I understand how children operate and how patience and a kind attitude is essential during a shoot, ok and maybe a little bit of bribing.

Enjoy my blog and find me on Facebook too.

Josie & Jon

I had the privilege of photographing my friends Josie & Jon’s wedding last month and we had an amazing day despite all the rain and cold on June 27th.  No one ever hopes for rain on their wedding day, but I do truly love umbrella shots – I find them incredibly romantic.  We started the day off at Arid Blow Dry Bar in Birmingham, moved to Jon’s parent’s house for the ceremony in West Bloomfield and then a beautiful reception in Royal Oak at the Farmer’s Market.  There was champagne and love flowing all day!  I have to admit when Josie’s dad got choked up walking her down the aisle, I was shooting through my own tears.  I’ve known Josie since her beginning days of high school and I’m just so happy for these two – they are truly a beautiful couple inside and out who compliment each other perfectly.  Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Casalou!!  xoxo, daphne

Ford Foundation

The Ford Foundation is the second largest non-profit organization in the United States.  Henry and Edsel Ford established the group in 1936 and in the 50’s the headquarters moved to NYC.  This year, the board held it’s annual meeting back in Detroit for the first time since the move.  The foundation does a great deal for the city of Detroit –  in 2014, they committed $125 million over 15 years to a “grand bargain” that involved retirees, foundations, city officials and more – all to help resolve the bankruptcy.  It was a week packed with panels, discussions, tours of the city and events with so many impactful, diverse leaders from the city.  I was incredibly thankful for the opportunity to document the week and hearing all of the people speak with such passion for the city of Detroit.

Aliza & Alan

Aliza and Alan tied the knot in Ann Arbor on an incredibly beautiful, sunshine-filled day.  The day was just perfect and we got to visit the peony garden in the Arboretum and shoot portraits amongst all the colorful peonies.  Love was surrounding these two as they signed their Ketubah, had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony at the Ann Arbor City Club and danced the night away with family and friends.  Cheers Aliza & Alan!

Meredith & Kevin

Another beautiful Detroit wedding on the books!  Meredith and Kevin are so sweet and I had such a wonderful time shooting their fabulous day.  It started off just to my taste with a dress from BHLDN, love that line!  The girls all looked just stunning after their hair appointments at Arid which is another favorite of mine.  They got ready and did their first look at the Westin Book Cadillac  – don’t you just love their expressions when they first see each other?!!  We then headed down the road to the beautiful ceremony and reception at the Belle Isle Casino.  An empty building that Adrienne of Fandangle Events transformed into a gorgeous, breathtaking site.  I must also mention the linens – they just looked gorgeous and added such glamour to the site – beautiful work by Luxe Event Linen.  I’m so happy I could share in your big day Kevin & Meredith, congratulations!!
