daphne's blog bio picture
  • Hello & welcome to daphne’s blog

I found that I had too many beautiful images to share with people and my website didn't have enough space, so I've entered the world of blogging! I'm a photographer in the metro-Detroit area specializing in weddings, newborns, families, children, and event photography.

I love what I do and being able to capture timeless moments of emotion and love that will bring joy to people for years and years. I'm so very lucky to have the job I do. I received my BFA in photography from the University of Michigan in 2000 and I've been shooting ever since. Simply put - I love love. I can't make up my mind as to which type of session I prefer so I like to do them all. Weddings are so amazing to shoot because of all the love and the powerful joyful emotions overflowing from the day - it's a dream to photograph. I'm also the mother of a 7 year old, Adler, who loves to ham it up in front of the camera and my little guy, Leopold, who is 1 and 1/2 and has way too many photos taken already, I can't keep up with all the ones I take. I understand how children operate and how patience and a kind attitude is essential during a shoot, ok and maybe a little bit of bribing.

Enjoy my blog and find me on Facebook too.

Kim & Eric

Kim and Eric had a beautiful wedding at one of my favorite places, Planterra Conservatory.  It was a bit of a rainy day but it never impacted us being surrounded by lush greens in the conservatory.  Both Eric and Kim were very laid back and thoroughly enjoyed their day celebrating their love.  I just adored watching the two of them light up around each other.  I’ve photographed a number of weddings and I’m particularly fond of the dance number, Footloose, but this crew really did it justice.  The two photos don’t really show off all the moves but there were handstands, jump splits (if that’s what you call them) and a loose foot thrown on the floor at the end!  A man with a prosthetic foot, threw his own into the middle of the dance floor to be funny and it surprised the crowd and made them roar.  Congratulations Kim & Eric and wishing you a lifetime of love and laughter!

Tia & Jerome

We had a spectacular wedding night on the Ovation with Tia & Jerome.  Tia had a vision for their wedding and my goodness was it beautiful – so many vibrant colors that echoed the blues of the water – just stunning.  It was also impossible to not fall in love with these three sweet flower girls!  Congratulations Tia & Jerome!

Courtney & Brad

Now this was a first for me – I photographed Courtney for her senior portraits and just this past month, I photographed her wedding!  I feel so honored that I can be the one to document all these milestones for a truly wonderful family.  Courtney and Brad had a beautiful wedding in Clio, followed by some bridal party photos in Frankenmuth and down town Flint before their reception at Genesys.  It was a spectacular day as you can see…

Mark & John

Mark and John had their first date on Friday the thirteenth, 15 years ago and I had the honor of photographing their wedding on another Friday the thirteenth this May.  The day unfolded beautifully in every way.  They had a small wedding in the morning on a gorgeous, sunshine filled day with just their immediate families.  Their adorable nieces were the flower girls and played their part perfectly.  Watching the two of them dance with their flower headbands on in this secret garden was just so sweet.  The party continued later on in the evening when Mark and John hosted a party and surprised all their guests with the fantastic news that they were married.  So much love in this house that I was able to capture.  Congratulations Mark and John!!
