daphne's blog bio picture
  • Hello & welcome to daphne’s blog

I found that I had too many beautiful images to share with people and my website didn't have enough space, so I've entered the world of blogging! I'm a photographer in the metro-Detroit area specializing in weddings, newborns, families, children, and event photography.

I love what I do and being able to capture timeless moments of emotion and love that will bring joy to people for years and years. I'm so very lucky to have the job I do. I received my BFA in photography from the University of Michigan in 2000 and I've been shooting ever since. Simply put - I love love. I can't make up my mind as to which type of session I prefer so I like to do them all. Weddings are so amazing to shoot because of all the love and the powerful joyful emotions overflowing from the day - it's a dream to photograph. I'm also the mother of a 7 year old, Adler, who loves to ham it up in front of the camera and my little guy, Leopold, who is 1 and 1/2 and has way too many photos taken already, I can't keep up with all the ones I take. I understand how children operate and how patience and a kind attitude is essential during a shoot, ok and maybe a little bit of bribing.

Enjoy my blog and find me on Facebook too.

Steve & Sima

Steve and Sima exchanged their vows on a gorgeous beach in Mexico and words can’t express how happy I was to be able to be the one to capture the day for these two wonderful friends.  I adore destination weddings, not just for the escape to sunny weather (that’s a given), but truly because it allows people more time to get to know all of the couple’s friends and family and prolong the celebration.  Steve & Sima both have incredible families – parents that are beyond adorable and siblings that are fiercely happy for their sister/brother to have found such a perfect partner.  Steve & Sima – love you guys so much!  xoxo

Andy & Hares

Andy & Hares tied the knot in Kauai, Hawaii in February and I had the absolute pleasure of photographing this amazing day for my friends.  This might be the longest blog post of photos I’ve put up here but there was too much beauty going on every where I looked it was impossible to narrow it down (and there are so many more images!).  The day began with photographing the gorgeous bride who also happens to be one of the kindest, sweetest, most life-loving girls I know (:  Hares looked dapper as ever and I don’t think there was a dry eye at the ceremony when he choked up, I snapped away while simultaneously wiping my eyes.  The number of looks that I caught between these two throughout the day were just those knowing glances of pure love that make everyone around them smile. There were so many wonderful traditions these two embraced throughout the day – from the Hawaiian traditions during the ceremony to the Afghan traditions during the reception.  Absolutely wonderful and magical!  Love you both!  A&H,blog-01A&H,blog-02A&H,blog-03A&H,blog-04A&H,blog-05A&H,blog-06A&H,blog-07A&H,blog-08A&H,blog-09A&H,blog-10A&H,blog-11A&H,blog-12A&H,blog-13A&H,blog-14A&H,blog-15A&H,blog-16A&H,blog-17A&H,blog-18A&H,blog-19A&H,blog-20A&H,blog-21A&H,blog-22A&H,blog-23A&H,blog-24A&H,blog-25A&H,blog-26A&H,blog-27A&H,blog-28A&H,blog-29A&H,blog-30A&H,blog-31A&H,blog-32A&H,blog-33A&H,blog-34A&H,blog-35A&H,blog-36A&H,blog-37A&H,blog-38A&H,blog-39A&H,blog-40A&H,blog-41A&H,blog-42A&H,blog-43A&H,blog-44A&H,blog-45A&H,blog-46A&H,blog-47A&H,blog-48A&H,blog-49A&H,blog-50A&H,blog-51A&H,blog-52

Daphne, you did such an amazing job with our wedding. Thank you so much for all your hard work and coming all the way out to Kauai for our special day. You are truly gifted and have a keen eye for beauty. Andy and I are so lucky to have you as our photographer, and more importantly, our good friend. We see the passion you have for your work and the dedication, drive, and enthusiasm for perfection. We couldn’t have asked for anything better.

Thanks again,

Rachel & Stephen

I met Stephen and Rachel a while back and I was so thrilled to photograph their wedding because they were so kind and so in love – the kind that just makes you smile.  Even though it was a November wedding, the sun was shining, it was a gorgeous day and we were surrounded by beautiful greens and flowers at Planterra – you would never guess it was November in Michigan.  When I first saw Rachel on the big day she just looked stunning, I have to confess I just love, love the antique styled hair pieces with the mini veil and she just looked stunning in hers!  They had a beautiful ceremony and were surrounded by so many loving family members and friends.  Cheers to the adorable newlyweds!

Beautifully done, Daphne. Seeing your amazing pictures makes me fondly remember the event all over again. Congrats to my gorgeous niece, Rachel and new nephew, Stephen.
