  • Hello & welcome to daphne’s blog

I found that I had too many beautiful images to share with people and my website didn't have enough space, so I've entered the world of blogging! I'm a photographer in the metro-Detroit area specializing in weddings, newborns, families, children, and event photography.

I love what I do and being able to capture timeless moments of emotion and love that will bring joy to people for years and years. I'm so very lucky to have the job I do. I received my BFA in photography from the University of Michigan in 2000 and I've been shooting ever since. Simply put - I love love. I can't make up my mind as to which type of session I prefer so I like to do them all. Weddings are so amazing to shoot because of all the love and the powerful joyful emotions overflowing from the day - it's a dream to photograph. I'm also the mother of a 7 year old, Adler, who loves to ham it up in front of the camera and my little guy, Leopold, who is 1 and 1/2 and has way too many photos taken already, I can't keep up with all the ones I take. I understand how children operate and how patience and a kind attitude is essential during a shoot, ok and maybe a little bit of bribing.

Enjoy my blog and find me on Facebook too.

Mark & John

Mark and John had their first date on Friday the thirteenth, 15 years ago and I had the honor of photographing their wedding on another Friday the thirteenth this May.  The day unfolded beautifully in every way.  They had a small wedding in the morning on a gorgeous, sunshine filled day with just their immediate families.  Their adorable nieces were the flower girls and played their part perfectly.  Watching the two of them dance with their flower headbands on in this secret garden was just so sweet.  The party continued later on in the evening when Mark and John hosted a party and surprised all their guests with the fantastic news that they were married.  So much love in this house that I was able to capture.  Congratulations Mark and John!!

Shane & Melissa

Shane & Melissa were married at The Henry in Dearborn and we had a beautiful, fun day from start to finish and I’m so happy for these two!  They followed the tradition of giving one another gifts on their wedding day and Shane’s gift to Melissa can be seen hanging on the wall in the gallery of art – it’s the painting of a heart and also where we did their first look photos.  How thoughtful and romantic is that?  Love it!  Since I’m more of a girl that tells a story with images…here are a few!

Michael & Gena

A beautiful wedding took place at Planterra the other weekend – full of so much love, laughter and lots of dancing!  Gena looked absolutely radiant in a fantastic dress and it was such a joy to document this amazing wedding.  Family means everything to these two and that rings so true to many of us too.  Gena danced not only with her father during the traditional father/daughter dance but also her two brothers and I found that very touching.  Grandma was also someone incredibly close to these two and they called her up during their thank you speech and gave her Gena’s bouquet as a token of their deep love and appreciation for all she does.  Grandma said a few words and I could instantly tell why she is so loved.  Gena & Michael – I wish you two all the best!

Ross & Karly

The highest compliment is when I’m hired to shoot another wedding for a family.  I photographed Scott & Maria’s wedding a few years back and I was fortunate enough to shoot Scott’s sister’s wedding a few weeks ago.  Karly & Ross had a beautiful wedding at St. John’s in Plymouth with a beautiful reception.  Ross proposed to Karly at the Magic Kingdom, hence the various details tying back to Disneyworld.  It was a magical night and I wish all the best for these two!

The Rorai Family

I feel very fortunate to have a few families that I’ve known over time and started documenting all of the big milestones from the beginning.  The Rorai family is one of them and I was so happy to see them last week.  I photographed Pat and Erin’s wedding what seems like ages ago and then took their family photos when Nora was a newborn and just last week I got to meet sweet little Lewis and take his newborn photos.  It was a snowy day, the fire was going and I just feel so lucky to be able to capture all these milestone memories for this beautiful family.  Congratulations Pat and Erin!  Thank you for trusting me with these moments 🙂
