The Ford Foundation is the second largest non-profit organization in the United States. Henry and Edsel Ford established the group in 1936 and in the 50’s the headquarters moved to NYC. This year, the board held it’s annual meeting back in Detroit for the first time since the move. The foundation does a great deal for the city of Detroit – in 2014, they committed $125 million over 15 years to a “grand bargain” that involved retirees, foundations, city officials and more – all to help resolve the bankruptcy. It was a week packed with panels, discussions, tours of the city and events with so many impactful, diverse leaders from the city. I was incredibly thankful for the opportunity to document the week and hearing all of the people speak with such passion for the city of Detroit.
